Maria Popova is a Bulgarian-American writer, thinker, and cultural curator best known for founding The Marginalian (formerly Brain Pickings), a widely read blog and newsletter exploring literature, philosophy, science, and art. Born in 1984 in Bulgaria, she moved to the United States and began the project as a weekly email to seven friends, which grew into one of the most celebrated independent intellectual publications on the internet.
